As well as being powerful little bottles of magic for our health, hygiene, and wellbeing, essential oils are powerhouses for cleansing our homes, cars, and the garden.

And many more

By using a few drops of these oils in purified water or with white vinegar, they successfully keep the surfaces in our home clean and looking great. Mixing two or three to obtain the aroma you love also ensures that your home smells clean and welcoming.

The essential antiviral oils work well as hand sanitizers, soap, and viral busting air sprays. Use individually or mix them to gain a fragrance that you love. My favorite is Lavender and Bergamot.

Antimold Essential Oils include:

  • Cinnamon
  • Clove
  • Tea Tree
  • Thyme

Using one of these oils with vinegar can treat and prevent mold reoccurrence. A vinegar base with your chosen oil can also add another cleansing oil or two to create an aroma that you enjoy. For example, try peppermint with lavender or cinnamon with orange.

By mixing essential oils from each of the above lists, you can make an effective natural antibacterial, antiviral, and antimould general purpose cleaner for your home.

Some Examples for Your Organic Garden

Using essential oil-based cleansers in the organic garden ensures that you keep within organic practices while effectively cleansing.

Any of the above-mentioned antibacterial essential oils can be used to clean outside areas and bins. Pine oil is a natural disinfectant suitable for cleaning greenhouses and inside sheds. Peppermint and Garlic essential oil sprays effectively eradicate and deter ants. A peppermint spray frequently sprayed around any area you don’t want cats to be frequent is an effective deterrent.

These are just some ways that essential oils are used to cleanse and freshen our homes. They really are little bottles of magic!
